The Squire on Fire

Ben Butler of Cease & Desist Book Club in Downtown Spokane provided our Dealer’s Choice cocktail for Spring 2022. The Squire on Fire combines a variety of spirits in equal parts. Redemption Bourbon and Rye provide a bold base that will appeal to whiskey drinkers looking for a nice drink before dinner, but the Averna and Grand Marnier smooth things out to make this an excellent night-cap. At Cease & Desist, Ben infuses the Squire on Fire with Cherrywood smoke, but you can still enjoy this cocktail at home without the final flourish!

Ingredients

3/4 oz Redemption Bourbon
3/4 oz Redemption Rye
3/4 oz Averna
3/4 oz Grand Marnier
4 Dashes Skidmore Tonics Chocolate Bitters
Laphroaig for rinsing glass

Cherrywood for smoking, optional

Instructions

Add a splash of Laphroaig to a Nick & Nora glass, swirl and toss.

Combine Bourbon, Rye, Averna, Grand Marnier and Bitters in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir.

Strain into the rinsed glass, garnish and serve.

At Cease & Desist, Ben infuses the drink with Cherrywood smoke.
